I have started to build some dioramas around the layout.  One corner is set up as the train depot. The train leaving the depot  passes a siding that stores the Christmas train, as it moves toward the farm area.  The command center is located along the wall in this area.

The train enters a long stretch across the back of the room after it leaves the farm area.  There is a passing siding on this wall that is used to store either the Chessie diesel or my Pennsylvania Steamer.  One can here that familiar diesel horn as the Chessie enters the corner set up as a city.  There is a banjo type crossing signal that animates that corner before the train moves toward the cabin and oil field.  There is a working barrel pump with field lights just before the sand tower that was used for traction on the rails.  Finally our journey nears its end as we cross the "fire stove pipe" by going over the compression style trestle bridge. Another small passing siding after the bridge is available for slow trains or storing a train.  The journey is completed as we pull back into the depot.

Richard's Train Room

I have built a dedicated a shelf below the Marx Christmas display to run my Lionel Christmas Trolley.  There are 28 feet of Gargrave track that runs along the wall and behind the stove pipe and over to the patio door.

The shelf is covered with Styrofoam to make it easier to create a Christmas theme to match the Marx display and feature a Lionel Christmas theme.

This project started 3-10-08.  I have three platforms I rebuilt, and a couple of crossing gates.  A Lionel Trolley Station was added to the end of the trolley run.
I finished the ballast work on the track and I am  working on the landscape which will be a winter theme for Christmas.     The pictures above are as of 10-25-08
